FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What is the elevation like?

    • The elevation of the ranch is just under 8,000 feet.  The air is also very dry.  We recommend drinking plenty of fluids.

  • How long does it take to get used to this elevation?

    • At this elevation, it usually takes about 2 days to become accustomed to this altitude.

  • How should I dress?

    • It is not uncommon to experience a change in temperature of up to 50 degrees (up or down).  We recommend dressing in layers so that you can remove or add layers as the day goes on or as you trek up the mountain trails.

  • Do I need to be concerned about snakes?

    • Because the altitude is so high, there is no real concern over snakes or termites.  It is too high and too dry for them to live.

  • How close is the nearest town?

    • MacKenzie Highland Ranch LLC is located just 16 miles outside of Dubois, Wyoming, where they still have wooden sidewalks.  There are several restaurants and places to eat in Dubois.

  • Can I bring my dog when I stay at the ranch?

    • You are permitted to bring your dog while staying at the ranch.  We do recommend, however, that you do not leave it outside overnight.
